Wipro Interview Questions

Wipro hires freshers mainly through the Elite National Talent Hunt and campus drives, and laterals through portals and referrals, with an assessment gate followed by technical and HR interviews.

Candidates commonly report that Wipro runs two fairly separate pipelines. Freshers usually enter through the Elite National Talent Hunt (NTH) or an on-campus drive, where a single online assessment gates everything that follows; stronger scorers are typically shortlisted for the higher paying Turbo track, while B.Sc and BCA graduates are more often routed to the Work Integrated Learning Programme. Experienced hires apply off-campus through job portals, referrals or consultants, skip aptitude almost entirely, and move to a technical screen and a managerial or HR discussion instead. Reported timelines vary widely. Campus processes are often compressed into one or two days, whereas off-campus Elite NTH cycles can run several weeks between the assessment and any interview call, and lateral processes typically take two to five weeks with the joining date driven by your notice period. The thing that trips people up most often is the written communication test. Candidates who are comfortable with coding and aptitude regularly report being filtered out on the essay, which is scored on structure, grammar and length rather than originality.

The interview process, round by round

  1. Online aptitude test Online, proctored, typically around 45 to 60 minutes

Quantitative, logical reasoning and verbal ability, usually sectionally timed so you cannot bank spare minutes from an easy section. Candidates commonly report standard placement fare: time and work, percentages, ratios, probability, series, seating arrangement, syllogisms, blood relations, reading comprehension and error spotting. Sectional cut-offs are widely reported, so clearing the paper overall but bombing one section typically ends the attempt there.

  2. Written communication test Online, typically around 20 minutes, one essay

A short essay on a general or mildly opinionated topic, written in the browser. Candidates commonly report that it is machine scored on grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary range, paragraphing and word count rather than on how interesting the argument is. Copy paste is usually disabled. This round eliminates a surprising number of otherwise strong candidates, so treat the word count guidance as a hard requirement, not a suggestion.

  3. Online programming test Online, typically around 60 minutes, two problems

Usually two coding problems in your choice of C, C++, Java or Python, run against hidden test cases in an in-browser editor. Reported difficulty sits at easy to lower medium: string manipulation, arrays, patterns, simple number theory and basic recursion. Partial marks for passing some test cases are commonly reported, so submitting a brute force that compiles is normally better than an elegant solution that does not.

  4. Technical interview Video call or in person, typically 20 to 45 minutes

Interviewers usually work outward from your resume and final year project, then test fundamentals in whichever language you claimed. Expect OOP concepts, DBMS and SQL queries, operating systems basics, a data structure or two and often a pen and paper style program. Laterals report a deeper dive into their actual stack, production incidents they handled and the architecture of the systems on their CV.

  5. HR interview Video call or in person, typically 10 to 20 minutes

Short and largely confirmatory in most reported cases. Expect the standard set on relocation anywhere in India, willingness to work in shifts, comfort with the service agreement, family background, why Wipro and salary expectations for laterals. Candidates commonly report that hesitation about relocation or about signing the service agreement is one of the few ways to lose an offer at this stage.

Interview questions candidates report

Aptitude

  • Two pipes fill a tank in 12 and 18 minutes respectively; how long together?
  • A train crosses a platform of a given length in x seconds; find its speed.
  • Find the next number in the series: 2, 6, 12, 20, 30, ?
  • If the average of five numbers is known and four are given, find the fifth.
  • Six people sit around a circular table with three conditions; who sits opposite whom?
  • Statement and conclusion: does the conclusion logically follow?
  • Find the error in the sentence and choose the corrected version.
  • A shopkeeper marks up by a percentage and then discounts; find the net profit percent.

Coding

  • Reverse the words in a sentence without using an inbuilt reverse function.
  • Check whether a given string is a palindrome, ignoring case and spaces.
  • Print the Fibonacci series up to n terms.
  • Find the second largest element in an array in a single pass.
  • Count the number of vowels and consonants in a string.
  • Print a pyramid or diamond pattern for a given number of rows.
  • Remove duplicate characters from a string while preserving order.

Technical

  • What are the four pillars of object oriented programming? Give an example of each.
  • Difference between an abstract class and an interface.
  • What is normalisation? Explain up to third normal form.
  • Write a SQL query to find the second highest salary in a table.
  • Difference between DELETE, TRUNCATE and DROP.
  • What is a deadlock and what are the conditions for it to occur?
  • Explain the difference between an array and a linked list.
  • Walk me through your final year project and what your specific contribution was.

HR

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Are you willing to relocate to any Wipro location in India?
  • Are you comfortable working in night shifts or rotational shifts?
  • Why do you want to join Wipro and not a product company?
  • Are you aware of the service agreement and are you comfortable signing it?
  • Where do you see yourself in three years?
  • Do you have any other offers in hand?

How to prepare

  • Treat the written communication test as a scored round, not a formality. Practise writing a structured 200 to 300 word essay with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, inside the time limit, without spellcheck.
  • Prepare for sectional cut-offs in the aptitude paper rather than an overall score. Candidates commonly report being rejected despite a strong total because verbal or logical fell short.
  • In the programming test, get a working brute force submitted early and only then optimise; partial test case scoring is widely reported and an unsubmitted perfect solution scores nothing.
  • Claim only what you can defend. Wipro technical panels commonly drill straight into whatever language, database or framework is printed on your CV, and freshers get caught claiming frameworks they used once in a workshop.
  • Know the Elite versus Turbo distinction before you sit the test. The higher package track is usually decided by your assessment performance, not by a separate application, so there is no second chance to opt in.
  • For lateral roles, have your notice period, current CTC, expected CTC and last working day ready as numbers. Reported delays at offer stage are more often about buyout and notice period than about the interview itself.

Frequently asked questions

Does Wipro still have a bond or service agreement for freshers?

Candidates commonly report signing a service agreement rather than a classic bond, typically committing to stay for a defined initial period with a financial penalty for leaving early. The exact duration and terms are reported to vary by hiring year, track and location, so read the document you are actually given rather than relying on what a senior batch signed.

What is the difference between Elite NTH, Turbo and WILP?

Elite NTH is the standard fresher hiring track for engineering graduates. Turbo is the higher paying track, usually offered to candidates who perform strongly in the same assessment, reportedly around 6.5 LPA against roughly 3.5 LPA for standard Elite. WILP is the work integrated learning programme aimed mainly at B.Sc and BCA graduates, combining employment with a part time degree.

How long does the process take from assessment to offer?

On campus, the whole loop is frequently completed in one or two days. Off campus, candidates commonly report several weeks between the online assessment and any interview call, then a further wait for the offer letter. Laterals typically report two to five weeks end to end, with joining dates set by the notice period they need to serve.

Do active backlogs or a year gap disqualify you?

Published eligibility criteria for fresher drives typically require no active backlogs at the time of the process and place limits on education gaps, though the specifics differ between campus drives and off-campus cycles. Cleared backlogs are usually acceptable if documented. For experienced hires these academic rules are reported to matter far less than relevant delivery experience.
