Accenture India Interview Questions

Accenture India hires freshers into Associate Software Engineer roles through off-campus drives and campus placements, and laterals across technology, consulting and operations, gated by a multi-part online assessment.

Candidates commonly report that Accenture India front-loads almost all of its filtering into the online stage. Fresher hiring, largely for the Associate Software Engineer and Advanced Associate Software Engineer bands, runs through large off-campus drives as well as campus placements, and the assessment is unusually broad: a cognitive section, a technical section covering pseudocode, networking, cloud and common office applications, a short coding assessment and, distinctively, an automated spoken communication assessment. Only after all of that do candidates typically reach a technical interview and an HR round, often held on the same day. Experienced hires in technology, consulting and operations skip the aptitude stage and usually face a technical or domain screen, a managerial round and an HR discussion, with joining timelines driven by the notice period they must serve. Reported end to end timelines run from a few weeks for large fresher drives to several weeks for laterals. The most common stumble is treating the communication assessment as a formality.

The interview process, round by round

  1. Cognitive and technical assessment Online, proctored, typically around 90 minutes

Sectional and usually non-reversible once you move on. The cognitive part covers verbal ability, critical reasoning and problem solving, and abstract or pattern reasoning. The technical part is broader than most services firms: pseudocode output and complexity questions, networking and security basics, cloud fundamentals, and common applications such as spreadsheets and word processors. Candidates commonly report the pseudocode block as the section that separates people.

  2. Coding assessment Online, typically around 45 minutes, two problems

Usually two problems in a browser editor, commonly in C, C++, Java or Python, scored against hidden test cases. Reported difficulty is easy to lower medium: string handling, arrays, loops, simple maths and basic recursion. Candidates commonly report partial scoring, so a working straightforward solution submitted early is worth more than a clever one that never compiles inside the timer.

  3. Communication assessment Online, automated, typically 15 to 25 minutes

A spoken and written English test, commonly reported as an automated format with tasks such as repeating sentences, reading passages aloud, answering short questions, retelling a story and typing a short passage. It is scored on pronunciation, fluency, sentence mastery and vocabulary rather than on content. Candidates regularly report clearing coding and cognitive rounds and then being filtered here, so a quiet room and a decent microphone genuinely matter.

  4. Technical interview Video call, typically 20 to 45 minutes

Panels usually start from your resume and final year project, then test language fundamentals, OOP, DBMS with a live SQL query, operating systems basics and one or two data structure questions. Cloud and basic DevOps awareness comes up more often here than at most peers. Laterals report a deeper technical or domain screen anchored on the exact skills the role is being staffed for.

  5. HR interview Video call, typically 15 to 25 minutes

Focused on fit, flexibility and paperwork. Expect relocation across Accenture India locations, comfort with client-aligned shifts, why Accenture, strengths and weaknesses, and for laterals current CTC, expected CTC and notice period. Candidates commonly report that this round also covers background verification requirements in detail, including gaps in education or employment that will need documentation.

Interview questions candidates report

Cognitive and aptitude

  • Which figure completes the pattern in this abstract reasoning sequence?
  • Read the passage and identify the assumption the author is making.
  • Choose the sentence that correctly rearranges the jumbled words.
  • If the code for one word is given, what is the code for another word?
  • A given percentage of a workforce is in one department; find the headcount from the chart.
  • Identify the conclusion that must be true given the two statements.
  • Which word is closest in meaning to the underlined word in this sentence?

Technical

  • What will this pseudocode print for the given input?
  • What is the time complexity of this pseudocode loop?
  • What is the difference between a compiler and an interpreter?
  • Explain what a subnet mask does.
  • What is the difference between IaaS, PaaS and SaaS?
  • What is a firewall and where does it sit in a typical network?
  • In a spreadsheet, which function would you use to look up a value in another table?
  • Explain the difference between HTTP and HTTPS.

Coding

  • Given a string, count the occurrences of each word.
  • Find the missing number in an array containing one to n with one number absent.
  • Sort an array of zeroes, ones and twos in a single pass.
  • Check whether a given year is a leap year.
  • Find the sum of digits of a number until a single digit remains.
  • Given two sorted arrays, merge them into one sorted array.
  • Print the transpose of a matrix.

HR

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Why do you want to work at Accenture?
  • Are you willing to relocate to any of our India locations?
  • Are you comfortable working in shifts aligned to a client time zone?
  • Tell me about a time you worked in a team and there was a disagreement.
  • What is your notice period and your expected CTC?
  • Do you have any gaps in your education or employment history?

How to prepare

  • Do not skip the communication assessment preparation. It is automated and scored on fluency, pronunciation and sentence structure, so practise reading passages aloud at a steady pace, in a quiet room, with a headset rather than a laptop microphone.
  • Pseudocode is the section that most commonly catches people out. Practise tracing loops and array indices by hand on paper rather than mentally, because the questions are output prediction and complexity, not code writing.
  • The assessment sections are usually sectionally timed and often cannot be revisited, so budget time per question before you start and move on decisively from anything that stalls you.
  • Revise a thin layer of cloud and networking even for a software role. Accenture's technical section reaches wider than the typical services assessment, and candidates report questions on service models, virtualisation and basic security that peers do not ask freshers.
  • Have your background verification story straight. Accenture is widely reported to run thorough checks, so any education gap, employment gap or overlapping dates should be explainable and documentable at interview stage, not discovered afterwards.
  • For laterals, be precise about which technology or domain track you are interviewing for. The panels are specialised, and generic services answers land poorly against a role scoped to a particular platform or client function.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the ASE and Advanced ASE roles?

Both are entry level technology roles. Candidates commonly report that Advanced Associate Software Engineer is the higher paying band, reportedly around 6.5 LPA against roughly 4.6 LPA for the standard Associate Software Engineer role, with selection usually driven by assessment performance and sometimes an additional round rather than by a separate application. Bands and figures are reported to vary by hiring year.

Is there a bond or service agreement at Accenture India?

Fresher candidates commonly report no classic bond, but do report an offer that can sit for some months before onboarding, and standard clauses covering training investment and notice period once employed. Terms differ by hiring year and role, so the offer document is the only reliable source. Laterals generally report a standard notice period clause rather than any bond.

How long does the process take from assessment to offer?

For fresher drives, candidates commonly report a few weeks from the online assessment to the interview and a further wait for the offer, with the interview rounds themselves often held on a single day. Laterals typically report two to six weeks, and onboarding dates are then set against the notice period being served at the current employer.

Does Accenture hire non-engineering graduates in India?

Yes. Alongside technology hiring, Accenture runs large operations, business process and consulting pipelines in India that recruit commerce, arts and science graduates, particularly for finance, procurement, marketing operations and customer service delivery. Those tracks commonly report a lighter technical section and a heavier emphasis on the communication assessment and domain aptitude.
